Post for Parents of 6th Graders

Dear Parents,  Please see information below from Eastlake Middle.

Compacted Math Assessments

Math Placement for Compacted Math (accelerated math course to prepare student to take IM 1 in their 8th grade year) will take place at the ELM Pavilion at 3:30 on April 15, 16 and 24.  The test is supposed to take one hour depending on the student.  The testing period will end at 5:00 to accommodate for set-up and check-in.   All students (even if they are in DLI) should be encouraged to take the test for equity purposes.  Students should bring a #2 pencil.  The test will cover material from 6thgrade.  We will be using test results (85 % and above) and teacher recommendations in regards to placement into the Compacted Math Sequence.  Parents will be notified of results and placement suggestions. If there are any questions/concerns, please email Dalila Espinosa at dalilia.espinosa@sweetwaterschools.org.

Registration

Registration will be an ongoing process throughout April. In order to better serve our community, we are allowing for walk-in registrations.  These walk-in times will take place from 9-12 Monday through Thursday and 1-3 on Fridays.  We will also have two night registrations on April 16th and 17th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.  We do require parents/guardians to book a time for the night events to avoid long lines.  To expedite the process, parents must come prepared with the required materials which can be found on our website (elm.sweetwaterschools.org under the parent tab) for either walk-in or night events.   The sign-up tab will be up shortly, so please check frequently for updates.  We look forward to serving you and making the registration process more convenient for our parents.    Please email Karina Campos with any questions/concerns at karina.campose@sweetwaterschools.org.  Click here for online registration information

Also, we will have a Coffee with the Principal Meeting on April 16th at 8:30 AM in the library if parents want to do a meet and greet.  On the same night, we will have a PTSO meeting at 6:00 PM in the library and we invite future Triton parents to join us this evening to explore volunteer and community leadership opportunities.  Our parents are our partners in this process!

Thanks everyone.  Let me know what I can do better to serve you and thank you for sending us awesome students.

Chula Vista Elementary School District will be using your input to inform our academic priorities in support of student achievement.

This year, we are using a new version of Thoughtexchange. After clicking on the link above, you will be asked to share your thoughts then read the thoughts of other participants and assign 1-5 stars to show how important each idea is to you. You will also have a chance to discover the top thoughts in the conversation.

Our Thoughtexchange will be open until March 15. Please visit the conversation often and add comments throughout the process.

Thank you so much for your participation.

Sincerely,
Lisa R Lines, Principal
Olympic View Elementary

1. It could take you as little as 5 – 10 minutes to participate.
2. Please complete this exchange by Friday March 15, 2019 07:00 PM
3. You can add and rate thoughts at your own pace until the exchange ends. You can also return to review your answers and Discover the results at any time.

Here are some quick tips to get you going:

– Come into the exchange to share your thoughts. Remember to say why each thought is important.
– Consider and rate the thoughts of others using stars (30 is ideal).
– Thoughtexchange keeps confidential who shared each thought and rating.
– When enough participants have shared and rated thoughts, you will be able to explore and discover the results.
– If you need technical help, please call Thoughtexchange at 1-800-361-9027 ext. 4 or email help@thoughtexchange.com.

Sinceramente,

Lisa R Lines, Directora
Olympic View Elementary

1. Puede tomarle tan solo 5 – 10 minutos participar.
