Our Golden Eagles had a great time and raised money for The American Heart Association at our Kids Heart Challenge!

 

 

 

Monday, Feb. 4 – English Learners will begin ELPAC Testing.  Students will be testing in the morning.  Please make sure:   

• Your child is at school, on time
• Eats a healthy breakfast
• Gets a good nights sleep

Tuesday, Feb. 5 – Olympic View will be hosting teachers and administrators from our district.  We will have approximately 70 guests so please note parking will be impacted.

Wednesday, Feb. 6 – We will be taking our OV school-wide picture.  Students need to wear a red shirt.

 

Wednesday Feb. 6 –  Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten registration packets are available for pickup in the school office. If you have a child entering TK or Kinder, be sure to pick up your packet.  Children who turn 5 on or before September 1 are eligible for Kindergarten.  Children who turn 5 after September 1 but before December 2 are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten.  For more information on Enrollment visit https://www.cvesd.org/parents/welcome_to_enrollment.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS MEETING

Our CVESD district is getting ready to welcome a new group of eager TK and K students for the 2019-2020 school year.  We encourage the parents of eligible TK and K students to attend the upcoming orientation scheduled for Monday, February 4th.

   Friday, Feb. 8 – Come enjoy a night in Venice at the School Valentine’s Dance.  Come enjoy good music and food from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  Please note the playground will be closed during the dance.  The auditorium and lunch arbor will be open.

Parking Lot Safety

Thank you for helping to make our parking lot safe for everyone.

It is running smoother, and we all need to remember

that due to the size of our drop of and pick up zones,

there will be a wait time in picking up your child(ren)

Reminders:

• Please adhere to the parking lot speed limit
• Please pull forward to open spaces
• Do Not have your child cross the parking lot to get to your car
• Do Not park in Red Zones
• Do Not leave your car unattended in the drop off and pick up zones
• Please do not park in marked spots

Monday, Jan. 28 – Talent Show auditions for grades K-3 at 2:45 in the auditorum

Wednesday, Jan. 30 – Talent Show auditions for grades 4 – 6 in the auditorium

Wednesday, Jan. 30 – Smart Mind Robotics after school Program will begin.

Please note that students auditioning for the talent show must have turned in an performer’s application and have the music or props needed for audition.  Auditions will be closed, and parents may wait outside the auditorium.

Thursday, Jan. 31 – Coffee with the Principal – postponed to Feb. 19

Friday, Feb. 1 – Kids Heart Challenge (Jump For Heart) at 8:30 am.  Parents are welcome. Students can wear a sports jersey.

Our school has officially started the Kids Heart Challenge (formerly Jump Rope for Heart) with the American Heart Association.  The event will be held on Feb. 1 at 8:30 am. Download the free APP Kids Heart Challenge OR go online at Olympic View’s Heart Hero Page .  You can earn a free glow in  the dark bracelet just for registering and our school can also earn PE/Recess Equipment! Just send 10 emails or ecards today!

It is not too late to sign up for Fit Kids after school sports.  Scholarships are available for Federal Employees.  Use the email located on the flyer.

Wednesday, January 23 @ 4:00 pm in the auditorium – First annual all committee meeting.  School Site Council, ELAC/MFA, and OPTC will meet together.  A representative from Leader In Me will be here with information.  Spanish and Japanese translation will be available, along with childcare for ages 3 and up.  Anyone is welcome.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey regarding the spending of OPTC funds.  The top 2 responses were shade structures and a leadership program for students, staff and parents.  I am currently getting quotes from the district for the shade structures.

Save the date! January 23 at 4 pm.  We will be having a first ever all committee meeting.  The school Site Council, ELAC/MFA, OPTC will come together.  A representative from “Leader In Me,” will be presenting information regarding the program.  All are welcome to attend. Childcare provided ages 3 and up.

Monday, Dec. 10  Philanthropy club will start selling Jingle grams after school.  Grams are $1.  All proceeds will go to the California Wildfire Relief Fund.

Safety Reminder:  Our parking lot runs smoothly when drivers follow the rules and are courteous and patient.  Please DO NOT pass up cars in the North drop off/ pick up loop where the staff parking is located.  Everyone is there to pick up a child.  Please do not cut the line.  Do not park in handicap without a placard.  If picking up in the south loop, please keep circling if your child is not at the curb.  The safety of our children, along with modeling responsible behavior is very important.

Safety Reminder:  We have a small parking lot at Olympic View.  When dropping off and picking up your child(ren) please adhere to the following:

• The speed limit is 5 miles per hour in the parking lot.
• The speed limit on S. Greensview during school hours is 25 miles per hour.
• DO NOT make u-turns on S. Greensview.
• Pull all the way forward when dropping off or picking up your child.
• DO NOT leave your car unattended in the pick up/drop off zone.
• Do not park or stop in red zones.
• Please slow down, be patient and wait your turn.  These are our precious Golden Eagles in the parking lot.
• School starts at 8:15 am.  Students should be on the blacktop, ready to start at this time.  Please drop off your child no later than 8:10 am to ensure he/she is ready for the day.
• Students who are not picked up by 3 pm will check into the office for safety reasons.  Parents/Guardians will check student out of the office.

Rain is in the forecast for this upcoming week.  Please use extra patience in and around the parking lot.
