The Military Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children– The goal of the compact is to replace the widely varying policies affecting transitioning military students. Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) – ASUMCA provides in-home social work visits, emergency food, volunteer opportunities, and other outreach. San Diego Military Outreach Ministries (SD MOM) – SD MOM distributes food bags donated by stores and food drives at various locations throughout the county to military families eight times a month. Day old bread is given eight times a week. SD MOM also provides donated household items, furniture, children’s clothing, and baby equipment from their warehouse on the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Additional resources provided by SD MOM are Holiday events and mentoring groups for military spouses. Region Legal Service Officer- Appointment only attorney series include wills, divorce information, adoption information, Service Member’s Civil Relief Act and more. Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)- EFMP is mandatory program and requirement of all dependents (adults and children) that reside with their active duty sponsor and have special medical, educational, developmental, and /or emotional needs or concerns. The EFMP empowers families with resource referrals, education programs, and consultation. Additionally, they coordinate with military programs, medical facilities, and community agencies to create a network of support for each EFMP family.
