Our Golden Eagles did a great job supporting our troops this past week.  We partnered with Geena and Krammer from 93.3 FM Morning Show and Johnny Perez from Heroes San Diego to write letters to our troops!  We love our military!

We Also Participated in Jeans for Troops and donated to the GI Go Fund.  Our school raised $600.00 for Veterans!  We surpassed our goal of $350.00!  Way to go Golden Eagles!

We celebrated our brave men and women in the Military with a celebration and breakfast in the morning.  Thank you to our Navy Partners who came to join us!

If you have not returned your Federal Survey Card, Please do so ASAP!  All families must fill out as our school funding depends on it.  Thank you!

Our District wide food and new toy drive will run until the 16th.  We will have students before and after school collecting new toys and canned food from Wednesday and Friday.  You can also send with your child.  Thank you for supporting those in need in the Chula Vista School District!

Red Ribbon Week culminated with Public Safety Day!  Thank you to CVPD Swat, Canine, Resource Officer, Sheriff Bomb Squad, Highway Patrol, Border Patrol, Homeland Security, CVFD and Or Naval partners for giving their time and leadership!

ATTENTION PARENTS!
If your child would like to participate in the costume parade on Friday, October 26^th, from 8:30-9:30 am

they need to come to school IN their costume with either:
their uniform underneath OR their uniform in a bag to change into after the parade.
A few reminders…

• No costumes depicting violence
• No props that resemble or could act as weapons
• No bare midriffs
• Masks are permitted for the parade walk only. However, Masks that depict violence or blood are NOT allowed.
• If your child’s costume involves face paint or make-up they need to bring something to get it off (baby wipes) as there are NO paper towels in the bathrooms. Parents you are welcome to stay and help your child take it off after the parade as well.
• Have fun!

The parade is at 8:30 and family is welcome to come and watch

Fri. Oct 26 – Olympic View Fall Festival.  We have exciting new games and attractions this year along with excellent food!  We are still looking for volunteers to help with the games.  If you are able to give some of you time, please contact the school office.

Our Amazing OPTC is gearing up for our Annual Golden Eagle Fall Festival, on Friday, October 26 from 4:30 to 8:00 pm.  They are working hard to ensure our families have an amazing time!

Monday, Oct. 15 through Wednesday, Oct. 17 will be wristband presales.  Get a discounted price on each wristband you purchase.  This is a limited time offer and will end on Wednesday, or when the first 100 wristbands are sold!

Friday, October 19 – Public Safety Day – Community Safety Agencies such as CVPD, Sheriff, Fire Dept. and others will be at school from 9 – 11 am on the blacktop.  Students will be able to talk with workers, see equipment and learn about the various public safety jobs.  Families are welcome to attend during the events.  If you want to attend with your child’s class, please refer to the following schedule.  If you stay after 11 am, you must come back to the office to get a volunteer/visitor badge.

Stations will be set up on the blacktop:
9 – 9:30 am – Kinder and 1^st
9:30 – 10:00 am – 2^nd and 3^rd
10:00 – 10:30 am – 4^th and Parris and Musolf

Our OPTC Boot Camp Fun Run was a huge success!  Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped keep our runners going with water, encouragement and cooling off!  Money is still being counted and we will let you know the total amount raised for our school!

Monday, Sept 17-21: Parent Conferences continue.  Minimum days for the entire week.

Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 8:30 am – 9:30 am: ELAC/MFA Meeting – We will be hosting Patricia Pimental from the District office.  Parents of English Learners, please bring your child’s ELPAC score report.  You will receive information on how to understand your child’s growth in English.

Wednesday, September 19 the annual Height/Weight Project Notification Forms will be coming home.  Please complete the form and return it to your child’s teacher

The Dunk Tank is coming!!!!  We still need a few more OPTC members

Saturday, October 13:   Save the date!!  The district will be hosting a Parent Academy at Vista Square Elementary.  Registration information will be coming soon!
