Week of April 8 – 12

As you may be aware, on Monday, April 8, 2024, an extraordinary celestial event will occur in North America as a solar eclipse will cast its shadow across the continent. While San Diego County will experience a partial eclipse rather than a total one, the event is nonetheless significant. The San Diego region is expected to witness a partial eclipse that will begin around 10 a.m., peak at 11:11 a.m., and end at 12:23 p.m.

To ensure the safety and well-being of all our students and staff during this event, the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) has implemented a rainy day schedule for all schools on April 8. This means that recess and lunch activities will be conducted indoors. Parental permission is required for classrooms intending to incorporate eclipse viewing into their curriculum, and adherence to NASA’s safety standards regarding appropriate viewing gear is mandatory.

If your child’s teacher is taking students outside to view, a waiver was sent home Friday. This waiver must be returned for your child to participate. Please check DOJO.

Our Statewide testing begins at the end of April. Please be sure your child is at school, on time, each day of testing. Please see the Olympic View testing schedule to make sure your child does not have any scheduled appointments, or family trips during this time. CLICK HERE for the schedule. A parent notification will be sent home Monday. You can also view it HERE.

CVESD LCAP InformationAPRIL 1 is last day to share your thoughts.

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) wants to hear from you! As part of our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) process, we are hosting an in-person and online forum for families, students, and community members to participate in our annual LCAP survey. The LCAP survey is part of CVESD’s annual efforts to ensure that our resources are being allocated to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

What is LCAP?

The LCAP is a three-year plan that includes specific goals and actions to improve student outcomes and measurable indicators to track progress and outlines how the district plans to allocate resources, including state and local funding. It is an essential component of the Local Control Funding Formula, which requires school districts to create an annual plan that lists goals, defines outcomes, details actions, and tracks expenditures.

CVESD ThoughtExchange Survey is Now Open!

Our annual ThoughtExchange for community input on the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is now open! Please see the flyer (in English and Spanish) for more information. This year, we are asking the question: What are some things we are doing well, and what could improve the educational experience we provide students through the LCAP?

The LCAP shapes our District’s goals and guides our budgeting priorities at both the district and school levels. Please join in on the conversation from Feb. 1 through April 1, 2023. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you!
