Week of Aug. 31-Sept. 4, 2026

Friday, Sept. 4 – Boosterthon Fun Run – Scheduled time will be sent soon.

We’ve raised $5,223 so far! 🎉 We’re making great progress toward our goal of $20,000 for Student Enrichment Activities, OPTC Events and Assemblies, Teacher Grants, and more.

As part of our Olympic View Golden Eagle Fun Run fundraiser, students are also taking part in a fun character program focused on positive traits. Today, they explored a kitchen in South Korea while learning about patience (you’re welcome 😄).

Want to see what they’re watching? Check out today’s classroom video by signing up at MyBooster.com.

This weekend, students can earn a Double Decker Frisbee by collecting a $70 donation by Monday!

Whether you donate, share your student’s page, or volunteer your time, it all helps Olympic View Elementary. Thanks so much for your support!

Here’s how you can help:

👍 Register your student at MyBooster.com. Search for “Olympic View Elementary.”

💵 Donate and share. We are aiming for each family to share with 10 people.

🎁 Earn class rewards. Our class will earn fun rewards based on how much we raise on our classroom tracker. I will keep you updated!

🎉 09/04/2026: Event Day. Our big celebration for Olympic View Golden Eagle Fun Run.

There is research that shows the more school a student misses, the harder it is for them to keep a job in the future. For each day a child misses, it takes 3 days to make it up! If your child is not sick, they should be at school. Please use the school calendar to schedule routine Dr. and dentist appointments during the breaks when possible. Be sure to call Ms. Shelley (619-656-2030) whenever your child will be absent. Also, consider asking her about an Independent Study Contract for days you miss. Your child will receive attendance credit.

Our average daily attendance goal is 96%. The first week of school, our average was 95%. Congratulations to the classrooms who met our goal!

Reporting Absences
If your child is absent, it is important to call the office to report the reason for the absence at 619-656-2030. You can leave a voicemail.

Independent Study Contracts – if your child will be absent for a non-medical reason, you can request an independent study contract from 1-14 days. If your child completes the work provided, the absences will be cleared.

Absences that are not reported will be considered unexcused. After 3 unexcused absences or tardies, you will receive a truancy letter.

Early Pick-Up and Tardiness
If you pick up your child early or if they are tardy for personal reasons, this will be considered unexcused unless a valid reason (ex. doctor’s note) is provided. We encourage you to schedule appointments during school breaks when possible.

Missing School Means Missing Learning!
Our school staff will be monitoring attendance closely. For students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school or having excessive tardies), we will schedule SART (School Attendance Review Team) meetings, make phone calls, and conduct home visits to support improved attendance.

We truly appreciate your efforts in getting your child to school every day and on time!
